More About Us…

MRMC Rehab is able to provide individualized programs for clients ranging in ages from 17 years and up. We accept a variety of insurance payer sources and will work with the individual insurance company to obtain pre-authorization for admission where required. A pre-admission screening is required for all potential admissions. These are conducted by trained clinicians to ensure appropriate of admission.

Progression towards goals is a key in any rehabilitation setting. Licensing agencies focus highly on the ability of each individual to be able to “make significant progress” during their rehabilitation stay. The MRMC Rehab interdisciplinary team provides ongoing communication of the progression towards goals in both formal and informal settings.

  • The formal setting – the Weekly Team Conference, is the time when the interdisciplinary team meets to discuss the individual’s current status, progression towards goals and any barriers to discharge goals. The Team’s findings are then communicated by our Medical Director on a one-on-one basis meeting with the client and family after the conference. This provides the patient and family opportunity to ask questions, clarify information, or provide recommendations to aide the client in staying “on target” towards goal progression and attainment.
  • The informal setting – the physician, therapy, nursing and clinical care managers are able to provide daily updates regarding the current status of a client.

Important information identified in the formal or informal settings can play a vital role in assisting a client in making progress towards goal attainment. As indicated, this information will be communicated to the interdisciplinary team members.

Customized Orthotic Fabrication

What is an Orthotic?

Orthotic devices, also known as orthoses, are instruments which are applied to the human body to align, support, or correct deformities, or to improve the movement of joints, spine, or limbs. These devices come in direct contact with the outside of the body, and are used by podiatrists, medical doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists. There are numerous types of orthoses, the most commonly used being casts, foot inserts, and splints.

Our therapists are specially trained in the assessment and treatment of conditions effecting the feet and lower limbs including gait imbalances, pain or discomfort of the ankles, knees, hips and lower back. Most commonly, orthotics are used to treat the following conditions/symptoms:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Bunions
  • Shin Splints
  • Metatarsalgia (pain in the forefoot)
  • Leg Length Discrepancies
  • Sports Injuries
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Excessive pronation or supination
  • Flat Feet / Fallen Arches
  • Claw Toes or Hammer Toes

By performing an in-depth gait analysis and biomechanical evaluation, your specific needs can be determined. Once the custom orthotic is received, the therapist will provide training and education on the proper use of the new device to receive optimal benefit.

Customized Prosthetic Training

Our physical therapists work closely with the patient to maximize his/her potential following an upper or lower extremity amputation. The patient is provided with therapy to stretch, strengthen, shape and toughen up the skin/soft tissue of the amputated extremity. The therapist will educate you for how to use the custom fit prosthetic limb and help you return to previous functional level.

The patients with upper extremity amputation are educated over:

  • Use of prosthesis for arm and hand function;
  • Skin, scar u0026amp; stump management.

The issues addressed for patients with lower extremity amputation are:

  • Sitting and standing balance with and without the lower extremity prosthesis;
  • Gait training – learning to walk with a lower extremity prosthesis
  • Skin, scar u0026amp; stump management
